Pregnancy Tests

Think you’re pregnant? Our center offers FREE lab-quality pregnancy tests which check for hCG, a hormone produced by the embryo during pregnancy. The longer you wait to take the test, the more accurate it is. While it is best to wait until your first missed period, you can test sooner than that; however, you may need to take a confirming pregnancy test later.

When to Use It

Because the amount of hCG, or pregnancy hormone, in your urine increases with time, it is best to wait until you have missed your first period. While many home pregnancy tests tout 99 percent accuracy on the first day of your missed period, research suggests it is difficult to detect low levels of hCG early on. In fact, it is suggested that testing in the morning, at least one week after a missed period, will relay the most accurate results.

How to Use It

Be sure to follow the specific instructions on your home pregnancy test, as tests differ from brand to brand. Most tests require either placing a testing stick in your urine stream or urinating in a cup and dipping the stick inside for a certain amount of time. Research shows that waiting a full 10 minutes will produce the most accurate result.
